Tuesday was the day that everyone thought Georgia football wide receiver Colbie Young's legal case would reach its conclusion, but unfortunately that was not the case.

After being charged with battery and assault on an unborn child after his Oct. 8 arrest, the woman involved in this case asked that the charges against Young be dropped in early November. A few weeks later, Young was seen practicing with Georgia again which made it seem like his return to the field would occur sooner rather than later.

But just because the charges were asked to be dropped doesn't mean they will actually get dropped. And that is what happened on Tuesday when Young entered a not guilty plea on the charges brought against him.

What's next for Colbie Young?

Young's next court date has been set for May, but Yonug's lawyer did ask if the date could get moved up to January, but that decision has not been made yet.

Regardless of if his court date gets moved up or not, it is unlikely that Young will play for Georgia again this season like many hoped. Had Young's charges been dropped on Tuesday, then he easily would have been ready to go for Georgia's upcoming College Football Playoff game at the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1. That however will not be happening.

At the end of the day, the result of this court case is the thing that matters most. Yes it would have been nice to add Young to Georgia's wide receiver room that clearly needs as much help as it can get, but hopefully Young can work through this case this next year so he can be ready to play for Georgia once again next season.

And how awesome of a site that will be to see him take the field at Sanford Stadium for the first time in the fall.
