Every Georgia football fan knew how special of a player tight end Brock Bowers would be in the NFL. But not everyone outside of Georgia knew what to expect, but that no longer is the case.

Bowers just finished his rookie season with the Las Vegas Raiders where he had arguably one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history. He set the all time rookie receiving record by hauling in 112 receptions for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns. This season was good enough for Bowers to finish in second place for Offensive Rookie of the Year, an award that never goes to a tight end.

Bowers has already seen a major development unfold this offseason as tight end Michael Mayer is being traded by the Raiders, paving the way for Bowers to be the lead tight end in Vegas for the foreseeable future. But another piece of significant news was announced on Friday as Bowers is finally going to have a reliable QB under center to throw him the ball.

Geno Smith to Vegas

According To ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Raiders are trading with the Seattle Seahawks for quarterback Geno Smith.

This is very significant because Bowers and the Raiders did not have a reliable quarterback this past season, with three different guys earning a start at some point throughout the season. Smith now joins Vegas as the guaranteed starter who has a ton of experience in the NFL.

This move also reunites Smith with his former head coach Pete Carroll, who was hired as the Raiders new head coach this offseason as well. So these two know how to play and coach with each other, and that stability should do wonders for Bowers and his career.

Bowers has already shown he is one of the best tight ends in the NFL, but adding a quarterback like Smith to the fold will only make Bowers that much better. So don't be surprised to see Bowers have an even better season in 2025 while helping lead the Raiders back to the playoffs.
