Former Georgia football wide receiver Ladd McConkey has earned himself a lot of fans since his arrival in the NFL. Every Georgia fan knew how special of a player he was, but the rest of the NFL had no clue what was coming.
McConkey has only played one season in the NFL, but it was one of the best seasons out of any rookie during the 2024 season. During his one season with the Los Angeles Chargers, McConkey recorded 82 receptions for 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns.
As mentioned, this impressive season earned McConkey a lot of new fans, and that includes none other than the best player in the NBA, LeBron James.
"The receiver that was a rookie for the Los Angeles Chargers, McConkey," James shared via si.com. "Yeah, McConkey that's my last one. I think he's gonna have a monster year."

Considering James plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, it's not surprising that one of his favorite players in the NFL is from LA as well. But it was McConkey's one playoff game last season against the Houston Texans that likely impressed James the most.
During that playoff game, McConkey caught nine passes for a whopping 197 yards and one touchdown. The Chargers unfortunately lost the game, but McConkey proved that he is one of the top wide receivers in the NFL entering the 2025 season.
McConkey is unfortunately coming off a minor injury that he suffered during training camp this offseason. No specifics were shared when this injury occurred, so that likely means it was small enough where he won't miss any time during the regular season.
Hopefully that is the case, because McConkey's NFL career has already taken off and the Chargers are relying on him to be a big piece of their offense this season. And McConkey likely doesn't want to let down any of his new fans this season, especially James.
