Former Georgia football wide receiver Ladd McConkey had one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history this past year with the Los Angeles Chargers. This means expectations are sky high for McConkey as he enters year two in the NFL.

Unfortunately McConkey’s preparations for the 2025 season hit a small road bump as he reportedly has gone down with an injury. Head coach Jim Harbaugh specifically stated this week that McConkey is “working through something minor” when asked about his star wide receiver.

Unfortunately Harbaugh did not share any more details about McConkey’s injury. However, McConkey did sit out of practice one day this past week as a way to stay on the safe side, so this injury does appear to be bothering him at least a little.

McConkey is coming off the best rookie wide receiver season in Los Angeles Chargers history. During his rookie season in 2024, McConkey was able to rack up 82 receptions and 1,149 receiving yards. He also was able to find the end zone an impressive seven times as well.

His receptions and receiving yards totals were both good enough to set records among all rookies in all of Chargers history.

McConkey’s best game of his 2024 season by far came in the Chargers playoff loss to the Houston Texans. The Chargers unfortunately came up short in the game, but McConkey set the NFL postseason single game rookie receiving record with a whopping 197 receiving yards. It’s unfortunate that record came during a loss, but it shows just how special McConkey can be if he can pull that off in the biggest game of the season.

McConkey did not play in the Chargers first preseason game against the Detroit Lions on Thursday, but most of their starters didn’t either. So Georgia fans will have to watch the upcoming practice reports closely to see if McConkey is 100 percent healthy again, which is the expectation moving forward in training camp.
