Georgia has had a relatively quite NFL Draft so far this year. That's not because they aren't having players selected, but none of their players have really been wrapped up in any of the drama.
Georgia however is being brought into the drama that's unfolding, most notably with Stetson Bennett after the Rams shocked the NFL world by drafting former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson.
Speaking of quarterbacks, Georgia once again is being brought into some drama for no reason at all with yet another quarterback. And of course it has to do Carson Beck as NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr unloaded a wild take about Georgia's talent that they gave Beck to work with during his time in Athens.
Mel Kiper Jr. lost some credibility after ridicuous take involving Carson Beck and Georgia
Kiper was live on ESPN covering day two of the NFL Draft Friday night. Beck ended up being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with the 65th overall pick in the draft, but it was what Kiper said before day two of the draft began that was a bit crazy to say the least.
When analyzing Beck you obviously need to talk about his time at Miami and Georgia. That is exactly what Kiper did, but he decided to blame Georgia for the struggles that he experienced during his final season in Athens. He did so by acting like Miami gave him a lot more talent around him than he ever had at Georgia.
Kiper said things like "The O-line really helped him, the skill players really helped him" and "I have the towel around me I don't have to do much" to make the point that he had everything he needed in Miami. Kiper didn't say anything specifically about Georgia regarding the talent around him, but it's clear he believes he didn't have enough help.
That however is ridiculous to suggest. Beck only lost one regular season game as a starter at Georgia and only lost two games overall. Sure he failed to make a playoff run like he did at Miami, but that's hardly a good enough reason to suggest he had no help at Georgia.
Beck did officially end on good terms with Georgia, but that isn't stopping analysts like Kiper from saying whatever they want. And unfortunately for Georgia, Kiper unloaded this ridiculous take that paints them in a bad light live on ESPN for the nation to hear.
