Instead of playing a true road game this season, Georgia will face Georgia Tech at a neutral site in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. This game is still considered a home game for Georgia Tech since they forfeited the right to play at home for a $10 million payday, but in reality this game will not feel like a road game at all.
In fact, this matchup will have more of a home game feel to it for a lot of reasons, and wide receiver London Humphreys explained why.
“Just having some experience, like you said, it’s almost like a home game feeling in how you’re just familiar with the stadium as simple as, like, getting off the buses and walking through the tunnels to the locker room,” wide receiver London Humphreys said via dawgnation.com. “Those things, just one less thing to think about, so that’s helpful.”
Georgia vs Georgia Tech will feel like a home game for UGA
Georgia plays a game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium almost every year because they typically find themselves in the SEC Championship game. They also play random non-conference games at this stadium from time to time like they did last year against Clemson in their season opener. This comfortability with this stadium will really benefit Georgia because they already know what their routine is going to look like which is typically isn't the case whenever a team plays at a neutral location.
On top of that is the fact that the crowd will likely be heavily in favor of Georgia. Sure there will still be a lot of Georgia Tech fans in attendance, but the expectation is for Georgia fans to dominate the crowd on Friday.
The hope is that this comfortabliliy and pro-Georgia crowd will help fuel one final victory for Georgia this regular season. And according to Vegas oddsmakers, that is exactly what is going to happen.
Georgia and Georgia Tech are scheduled to kickoff on Friday, Nov. 28 at 3:30 pm EST.
