For the last decade, Georgia basketball and the NCAA Tournament have not been uttered in the same sentence. That’s how long it’s been since the Bulldogs have made the Big Dance, but that all will be changing later this year.

Georgia basketball just earned their third straight win Tuesday night at South Carolina, a win that takes them to 19 total wins this season. 19 is a significant number because all of the NCAA Tournament experts have been saying that 18 is the magic number to make the tournament this year. So UGA surpassing that number is a big deal.

On top of that, Georgia’s resume is very strong as it includes wins over Kentucky, Florida and no bad losses. Georgia even has an early season win against St. John’s who is now a top 10 team in the country. So it’s safe to say that Georgia is feeling very safe right now.

But it wasn’t always that way. Two weeks ago everyone was counting Georgia out, but that’s what made their remarkable upset win over Florida last week so great. But Mike White and his team have not forgotten about what everyone was saying just two weeks ago, and he sounded off on them during his postgame press conference after Tuesday night’s win.

Mike White sounds off on haters

The above statement from White is quite long, but it is worth the read as a Georgia fan. But in summary, he is saying that it was dumb to count them out in the first place because of how difficult their schedule has been. Sure Georgia’s lost a lot of games, but they were all to quality teams when UGA was the underdog. Yes it would have been nice to win some of those games, but there wasn’t a terrible loss in there like other teams have suffered.

Instead of having a lot of doubters, Georgia is now in a spot they haven’t been in for a decade now. A spot where everyone actually believes in this team.

Georgia has one final regular season game this weekend at home against Vanderbilt before the SEC Tournament begins. The scene this weekend in Athens is going to be amazing as not only do Georgia fans finally have a team to cheer for in March Madness, but they have a team people believe can make a run.
