Mississippi State fans hilariously blamed Foley Field for Game 1 loss to Georgia

Mississippi State found a new way to excuse their loss to Georgia in the Super Regional.

Georgia survived what was one of the best college baseball games of the season by taking down Mississippi State 13-12 in game one of their best-of-three Super Regional. Mississippi State got off to a quick 7-0 lead, but Georgia used five home runs to power their way all the back to steal game one.

The long ball was the story of game one as the two teams combined for a whopping 11 home runs. None were bigger than Michael O'Shaughnessy's three-run blast in the bottom of the eighth inning though which gave Georgia the lead for good.

Mississippi State fans were left stunned after losing this game. They had no idea how they lost a game after leading by as many as seven runs, and the only way that they could come to terms with this defeat was blaming the dimensions of Foley Field for being too small of a ballpark.

Mississippi State fans were somehow blaming Foley Field after their Game 1 loss to Georgia

Let's set the record straight, Georgia and Mississippi State were two of the hottest offenses in the country entering the Super Regional round this weekend. It would've been more strange if this game turned into a pitcher's duel than the offensive explosion that occurred, but either way 11 home runs is a lot for one baseball game.

But Mississippi State actually hit more home runs (6) than Georgia did (5), so when their fans were complaining about Foley Field after the game it really didn't make a whole lot of sense.

Thankfully some reasonable people chimed in to show that Foley Field's dimensions are extremely similar to Mississippi State's field. On top of that, Foley Field is also very comparable to the average MLB field size as well.

Two facts prove how idiotic the Mississippi State excuses are

Complaining about field dimensions after losing a game you were leading 7-0 is as bad as it gets. But it gets even worse after realizing two key facts.

Georgia and Mississippi State were playing on the same feld. Sure baseball is different from other sports like hockey, football and basketball where each field is different, but when two teams show up to play they have to play on the same field. So at the end of the day the dimensions don't matter at all.

On top of that, Georgia is now 5-0 against Mississippi State this season with wins on three different field. This includes Saturday's win at Foley Field, a three-game sweep at Mississippi State's home field, and an SEC Tournament victory at a neutral field.

So maybe it isn't the field, maybe Georgia is just better.

Georgia still needs to beat Mississippi Sate one more time to advance to their first College World Series since 2008. They do have two games to get that victory, but everyone in Athens will want to see them win game two to avoid a winner-take-all game three.

First pitch for game two of Georgia's Super Regional against Mississippi State is scheduled for Noon EST on Sunday, June 7 and will be aired on ESPN. Unfortunately for Mississippi State fans, this game will be played at Foley Field again.
