Game one between Georgia and Mississippi State in their Super Regional was as good as everyone thought it would be. Vegas believed that this series could go either way, and that was especially the case during Georgia' game one victory that was a back-and-forth showdown from the moment the first pitch was thrown.

After trailing 7-0 early in the game, Georgia stormed back and took down Mississippi State 13-12 thanks to a three-run blast from Michael O'Shaughnessy in the bottom of the eighth inning.

This game had everything that makes NCAA Tournament baseball so great. Foley Field was jumping all game long and both teams played like teams capable of winning a National Championship, but it was Georgia who came out on top where they will now take a one game advantage into game two of this best-of-three series.

Geogia vs Mississippi State game 1 was a missed opportunity for the NCAA

Georgia and Mississippi State was the most anticipated Super Regional this season. They were one of just two series that featured two nationally seeded teams, but these two teams were arguably the hottest teams entering Super Regional play.

The NCAA however controversially gave them an 11:00 am EST start instead of reserving a prime time slot for this showdown.

Fans were furious, but if this game had been a dud then no one would have said anything further, but game one had as much excitement as physically possible. So the NCAA likely has their tail between their legs because they missed out on the opportunity to have what was one of the best college baseball games of the season played under the lights.

Unfortunately for everyone game two won't be any better as first pitch is scheduled for Sunday, June 7 at Noon EST.

What's next for Georgia in their Super Regional titlt against Mississippi State?

Georgia will enter game two on Sunday with a massive advantage over Mississippi State. All the Bulldogs need to do is win one of two games and they will advance to the College World Series.

It goes without saying that winning the first game of a best-of-three series is a huge advantage, but just how big is it? Since the Super Regional round became a best-of-three series in 1999, game one winners have advanced to the CWS about 80 percent of the time.

This by no means guarantees Georgia will make it to the College World Series, but history shows they have a great chance to advance.

Georgia hasn't made it to the College World Series since 2008 when they were the runner-up. They've only made the Super Regionals one other time since then, so their opportunities to get back to the CWS have been few and far between.

But Georgia has a great opportunity to get back to the College World Series in front of their home crowd, but it's safe to say that everyone will want them to win game two so they don't have to risk playing a game three on Monday.

First pitch for game two between Georgia and Mississippi State is scheduled for Noon EST on ESPN.
