The recruitment of five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson continues to take many twists and turns, and unfortunately they are not in Georgia’s favor.
According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Atkinson is the No. 9 overall player in the country and the nation’s No. 1 linebacker in the 2026 recruiting class. He also is the top ranked recruit from Georgia as well. So it goes without saying how important this recruitment is for Georgia.
The Bulldogs have felt like the leader in his recruitment for quite some time now as they hold a crystal ball prediction in their favor on 247Sports. But now that college football is in the middle of official visit season, things appear to be shifting slightly in Atkinson’s recruitment.
And that was once again seen on Wednesday as Atkinson scheduled an official visit to Oregon for this upcoming weekend.
Tyler Atkinson yet to schedule official visit with Georgia
The fact that Atkinson is taking visits to other schools isn’t what is concerning because almost every recruit does this nowadays. It’s the fact that Atkinson is yet to schedule an official visit to Georgia that is somewhat troubling.
This also isn’t the first official visit Atkinson will be taking either as he visited Clemson this past weekend as well.
There is still a good chance that Atkinson will take an official visit to Georgia at some point, and that likely will still occur during the month of June. But concern will continue to rise among Georgia fans with every passing day that doesn’t result in a visit to Athens getting scheduled.
Thankfully Atkinson has already visited Georgia more times than anyone can count, but it would be nice to see him finally take his official visit to Georgia. So hopefully that news gets announced soon, because it’s starting to feel like this recruitment might be slipping away from UGA.
