G-Day is the best day of the offseason for Georgia fans, except when key players get injured. Unfortunately that is exactly what happened with star running back Nate Frazier who tweaked his ankle during his first carry of the game.
Frazier did not return after this injury and was even spotted on the sideline hours later still limping. This caused every Georgia fan to start panicking, but Kirby Smart's postgame injury update should put all those worries to bed.
“Precautionary. He (Frazier) had an ankle injury in the last game (against Ole Miss),” Smart said via dawgnation.com. “He reaggravated it on the first play and we shut him down after that.”
Nate Frazier injury update: Georgia starting RB suffered minor injury during G-Day
Smart made it very clear that Frazier's injury is minor. He said that he reaggravated his ankle injury suffered during their playoff loss to Ole Miss and that he didn't return to their G-Day scrimmage just to be safe.
Smart didn't share any other details about Frazier's injury, but that indicates that there is nothing to worry about. Frazier should hopefully be fully healthy after a few days off and should be back in time to participate in every summer workout.
The fact that he reaggravated the same injury from their loss to Ole Miss a few months ago is a bit concerning though. If that injury is still bothering him today then it could very easily still bother him when the regular season begins this fall. This will be something to watch throughout the summer and into fall camp because a nagging injury to Georgia's starting running back is the last thing anyone wants.
This update though is the best case scenario for Frazier and Georgia fans. G-Day would've been ruined if he suffered a serious injury, but that thankfully did not occur and he should be back to full health very soon.
