Kirby Smart and his staff are focused on the 2027 recruiting class right now, but they also have to remain diligent with the 2028 class as well. Georgia thankfully is off to a hot start in the 2028 class as they have a commitment from the No. 1 quarterback in the country in Jayden Wade.

But what's better than one commitment from a No. 1 player? Two commitments, and Georgia's chances to land the No. 1 kicker in the 2028 recruiting class just got a lot better.

Georgia's odds to land nation's No. 1 kicker just improved without them having to do anything

Ryan Jung is the No. 1 kicker in the country for the 2028 recruiting class. Kicker's recruitments usually are never as exciting as a regular players, and that is the case here, but Jung made a big decision that could help swing his recruitment in Georgia's favor.

Jung originally played for powerhouse IMG Academy in Florida. Georgia has gotten a lot of recruits from IMG over the years, but so too has nearly every other big name program in the country. Everyone knows how talented players are who go to IMG, so those players tend to have highly contested recruitments.

But Jung made the decision to transfer to Georgia and play for Milton now, so now Georgia is the hometown team in his recruitment and were given this big advantage without having to do anything.

Georgia's struggles in the 2027 recruiting class could lead to success in the 2028 class

Georgia's slow start with the 2027 recruiting class has been well documented. Their biggest loss came at the hands of Miami who flipped five-star Donte Wright from them, but they have had some issues elsewhere as well.

Those same issues however aren't occurring in the 2028 class.

Georgia already has one of the best 2028 recruiting classes in the country, mainly because they hold a commitment from Wade who is the No. 1 quarterback in the country. But there is a chance Jung could give Georgia two No. 1 commits from their position in the 2028 class.

Jung is talented enough where he will still have many suitors, but him being closer to Georgia now will give them a big advantages. Now it's up to Smart to take advantage of that and earn his commitment sooner rather than later.

Because if Georgia has learned anything with the 2027 recruiting class it's that they need to try and convince recruits to commit much sooner than they have in the past.
