Kellan Hall is a five-star defensive lineman and the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2028 recruiting class. He has had the attention of the entire recruiting world throughout this fall as he’s indicated who his top teams are while taking visits this season.
On Tuesday his recruitment took another turn as he shared that he will announce his commitment in about two months on Jan. 3.

Hall also announced his six finalists which thankfully includes Georgia. Kentucky, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Oklahoma also made the cut, but Georgia has to feel like they have a real chance to win his recruitment two months out from his commitment.
Kellan Hall has given Georgia some encouraging signs
Georgia was one of the lucky schools to host Hall on a visit this fall when he came to Athens when they played Oklahoma. This ended up being a great game for him to visit since Georgia dominated Oklahoma, and Hall left feeling good about UGA.
He even went as far as to say that it would be “pretty tough” to not play for Georgia as long as they make a competitive NIL offer. He has said that NIL won’t be the only thing impacting his decision, but it clearly will have a say in his final decision.
Kirby Smart has made it clear that he most likely will never be the highest bidder for any one recruit, especially when that recruit is still in high school. Hall however isn’t asking for the biggest offer from Georgia, just one that is competitive to others.
Hall made this comment one month ago, and by the time he commits it will have been three months since he said this. That means this statement may no longer be accurate by then, but only time will tell.
An unlikely SEC school might land Kellan Hall in the end
There’s a clear hierarchy when it comes to the six finalists Hall named. A few of these programs are some of the best in the country with some others above average, and then there’s Kentucky.
Kentucky is having a great season this year and actually control their own destiny to make it to the SEC Championship game, but they are not a great program overall compared to Hall’s other finalists. That however may not matter to him because they are the favorite to win his recruitment according to 247Sports and On3.
A big reason for this likely is due to the fact that he’s from the state of Kentucky. Sometimes location doesn’t matter to elite recruits, but Hall might be someone who is willing to play for a less successful program because it is close to where he grew up.
Georgia still has over two months to close the gap on Kentucky and win this recruitment. It goes without saying how big winning this recruitment would be since he’s the No. 1 recruit in the country, but Smart and his staff clearly have their work cut out for them.
