Remember how upsetting it was when the NCAA made Georgia and Mississippi State play at 11:00 am and Noon this past weekend? That was a decision they lived to regret after the mammoth of a series it ended up being, but the NCAA had a chance to make up for their mistake at the College World Series.
3-seed Georgia will play 6-seed Texas in their first game at the CWS. These are arguably the two hottest teams left in the tournament, so fans will be happy to see that the NCAA gave them a prime time matchup to open up Georgia's run at the College World Series.
When will Georgia and Texas play at the College World Series?
Georgia and Texas will open up their College World Series runs at 8:00 pm EST on Saturday, June 13.
The winner of this game will enter the winner's bracket while the loser will be sentenced to the loser's bracket where they will have to win four straight games to make it to the National Championship series.
How to watch Georgia and Texas at the College World Series
Georgia and Texas will air live on television on ESPN. Every subsequent game Georgia plays throughout the first round of the CWS will either be on ESPN or ESPN2.
If Georgia makes it to the National Championship series each game will air on ABC.
Who will else could Georgia face at the College World Series?
Alabama punched their ticket to the CWS on Monday after they completed their sweep of St. John's in their Super Regional. They now join Georgia and Texas in their half of the CWS bracket.
Oklahoma and Kansas are still battling for the final spot in the CWS field, but the Sooners have a big advantage as they lead the three-game series 1-0. Oklahoma was also leading game two 8-1 when the game was suspended Sunday night due to inclement weather, but they are the heavy favorite to hold on and claim the last spot in the CWS field Monday afternoon.
Georgia's full College World Series schedule
Alabama will play the winner of the Oklahoma-Kansas Super Regional at 3:00 pm EST right before Georgia faces Texas. If Georgia wins they will play the winner of that first game on Monday, June 15 in the winner's bracket, but if they lose they will play the loser of that game on June 15 as well with their season on the line
Georgia will play every other day until they either clinch their spot in the National Championship series or lose two games and are eliminated from the tournament.
In just a few short days Georgia fans will get to watch the Bulldogs take the field for the first in the College World Series since 2008. Expectations are sky high as Georgia looks like the best team in the country, but anything is possible at the College World Series so UGA needs to remain focused and take it one game at a time.
