Georgia baseball just knocked off 14-seed Mississippi State in two straight games to advance to their first College World Series in 18 years.

Georgia's Super Regional tilt against Mississippi State may have been the best Super Regional in recent history. It began with a 13-12 Georgia victory on Saturday that saw UGA storm all the way back from a 7-0 deficit. Then just one day later the Super Regional ended with a back-and-forth slugfest that ended in an 11-9 victory for Georgia.

Georgia and Mississippi State looked like two of the best teams in the country, so even though things didn't go MSU's way they have every right to hang their head high for putting up a really good fight. Some Mississippi State fans however are doing the exact opposite as they are coming up with wild ways that Georgia cheated their way to victory.

Mississippi State fans can't accept what the rest of the country knows about Georgia

Excuses in sports are lame, but whenever a team loses a hard fought game it seems like there is a handful of fans incapable of accepting defeat. So what do they do? They spin up wild conspiracy theories to try and downplay their favorite team's loss in any way that they can.

After their game one loss on Saturday they claimed that they only lost because Foley Field's dimensions are too small. That was a strange thing to suggest considering both teams played on the same field and Mississippi State actually hit more home runs. On top of that, Georgia swept Mississippi State in a three-game series in their own ballpark while also beating them on a neutral field in the SEC Tournament as well.

If you thought that excuse is crazy though, just look at what a few of their fans are saying after their game two loss.

Apparently Georgia cheated their way to victory over Mississippi State. Two claims are being made here with the first being that Georgia had to be using illegal bats. That however makes no sense because both teams hit nine home runs in their two games this weekend.

The second claim a few Mississippi State fans are making is that Georgia had to be stealing their signals. They believed that Georgia's batters somehow always knew what pitches were coming, so they had to have been doing something illegal.

In reality though the college baseball world knows that Georgia is just a better team. Not only did they prove that this weekend in the Super Regional, but they showed that all season as they went 6-0 against Mississippi State.

Baseball is a sport where any team can beat anyone on any given day, so the fact that Mississippi State couldn't even beat Georgia once shows how much better UGA actually is.

Georgia exorcised Super Regional demon to get back to the College World Series

Georgia's trip to the College World Series will be their first since they were the runner-up in 2008. Times have been tough for the program since then as they only made the Super Regional round one other time, and no one wants to remember that series.

As the No. 7 overall seed in 2024 Georgia got to host 10-seed NC State in the Athens Super Regional. After splitting games one and two Georgia fell short in game three 8-5 to miss out on a trip to Omaha.

Georgia's team looks very different now to what it did during that defeat, but Wes Johnson was their head coach. He certainly will be excited to put that heartbreaking defeat to bed, just like Georgia fans are, and go coach the Bulldogs in the College World Series for the first time.

The College World Series bracket is not 100 percent set yet, but the Bulldogs first game will either be on Friday, June 12 or Saturday, June 13 with their most likely opponent being the Alabama Crimson Tide.
