For the first time in 18 years, the Georgia Bulldogs are headed to the College World Series.
After a perfect 3-0 weekend to begin NCAA Tournament play in the Athens Regional, Georgia welcomed 14-seed Mississippi State to Athens for a best-of-three Super Regional series in a battle of the Bulldogs. Georgia took game one on Saturday 13-12 and then followed that up with an 11-9 win in 10 innings in game two to sweep Mississippi State.
Georgia will join seven other teams in the College World Series which will begin next weekend, and it's safe to say that things will get very interesting based on who UGA could play.
Who will Georgia play in the College World Series?
The first round of the College World Series is the exact same as regional play. Georgia will be put in a four-team double elimination bracket that mirrors the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
There is a chance that Georgia could be placed in a bracket with three other SEC teams. No other teams have clinched their spot in Georgia's bracket yet, but their first game will be against the winner of the Super Regional that features Alabama and St. John's. The Tide are the heavy favorite to advance and have a 1-0 lead over St. John's, so it is very likely Georgia will face Alabama in their first game.
The other two members of Georgia's CWS bracket will consist of the winners of the Super Regional matchup between Oregon and Texas along with the winner of the Kansas and Oklahoma Super Regional.
When will Georgia play in the College World Series?

The three-game National Championship series will take place over three days from June 20-22.

Georgia's history at the College World Series
This marks Georgia's seventh College World Series in program history. The last time they made the CWS was back in 2008 when the Bulldogs advanced to the Championship series only to lose in three games to Cinderella story Fresno State.
Georgia does have one National Championship in their history which occurred in 1990 when they defeated Oklahoma State 2-1.
How will things shake out for Georgia this time around? This Georgia team is playing like the best team in the country, but anything is possible at the College World Series. But out of all the years Georgia has made it to the CWS, this may just be the best team that Georgia has ever had playing in Omaha.
