Georgia football has seen a lot of movement on their injury report this week. A few players are looking like they may be making a return to action against Florida on Saturday while other Bulldogs have already been ruled out.
However, on Wednesday we found out that there is a new addition to the Bulldogs' injury report. And unfortunately, Georgia has another key contributor who will be sidelined against Florida.
Wide Receiver Anthony Evans ruled out vs Florida
Kirby Smart shared on Wednesday that wide receiver Anthony Evans will be out for Georgia's game against Florida on Saturday. Evans hasn't been the most productive player on offense this season and has only recoreded nine receptions for 88 yards. Evans does also have a big run this season for 52 yards as well.
However, Evans presence will be missed on special teams as he is the Bulldogs starting punt and kick returner.
Smart did not share what Evans' injury was specifically, but Graham Coffey with Dawgs Central stated that Evans is dealing with a hamstring injury.
This loss will impact Georgia's passing game some, but Evans is not one of Carson Beck's most used targets, so there likely is no need to worry about this having a major impact on the offense. Special teams on the other hand may be a little bit of a worry.
Someone is going to have to step in now to field punts and kickoffs, which can be a difficult thing to do without a lot of practice. I'm sure Georgia already has backup returners that were already ready in case something like this did happen to Evans, but we'll have to wait and see how they do once they're thrown into this position on Saturday for the first time.
Hopefully Evans is able to get back soon and Georgia can get back to their normal special teams rotations.
