Injuries will always be something that impacts college football each and every season. Sometimes injuries benefit Georgia and sometimes they hurt UGA, but that’s just the name of the game.

The latest injury to shock the SEC was announced on Monday when a lower leg injury surfaced for Florida quarterback DJ Lagway.

DJ Lagway’s injury could improve Georgia’s season outlook

Lagway is one of the best quarterbacks not just in the SEC, but the entire country. If anyone doesn’t agree with that then tell them to turn on the tape from when Georgia played Florida last season.

Lagway was a very inexperienced QB entering Florida’s rivalry showdown with UGA last year, but he did not let that impact his play on the field. He was dominant against a strong Georgia defense in the beginning of the game and helped lead the Gators to an early lead. With the Bulldogs defense having no answer for Lagway and Georgia’s offense struggling to move the ball, this game was looking like a loss early on.

Then Lagway got injured and had to sit out the rest of the game. That was the turning point in this game that ultimately led to Georgia’s 14 point victory.

It’s unclear if Florida will be good enough to win the SEC this season. Their roster may be talented enough to beat every team on their schedule, but their schedule overall is likely too difficult for the Gators to win enough games to make it to the SEC Championship game in Atlanta.

But what they can do this season is play spoiler and eliminate another team’s chances of making it to Atlanta. And Georgia is one of those teams they could do that to this season.

Pulling that off however will be a lot more difficult if Lagway is sidelined with yet another injury this season. But hopefully Lagway is able to get healthy before the season begins, because Georgia wants to put Florida in their place when the Gators are at their best.
