One of Georgia football’s biggest games this season is when Alabama comes to Athens during week five. This showdown will have massive SEC Championship and College Football Playoff implications, and every college football fan in the world will be watching.

Georgia learned last week that they may be getting a small advantage in this game as Alabama starting running back Jam Miller suffered a collarbone injury during the Crimson Tide’s fall camp. Obviously no one should ever cheer for an injury to occur even to Georgia’s biggest rivals, but his absence would really benefit Georgia.

However, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer provided an injury update on Miller’s status this week, and it sounds like the Georgia game will be his first game back from this injury.

"He's a leader for us, a quiet leader, but somebody the players all respect," DeBoer shared via espn.com. "Having that bye week, I feel good that he will be back out there. He does so many things for us at that position."

Alabama’s No. 1 RB will be back for Georgia game

Both Georgia and Alabama have a bye week before their week five showdown in Athens this season. This week will be the perfect opportunity for both teams to get as healthy as possible before they beat each other up on the field. This extra week of rest also sounds like perfect timing for Miller and Alabama because it will allow him to get back on the field for their biggest game of the season.

Miller is coming off a very strong 2024 season where he racked up 145 carries for 668 yards and seven touchdowns. He also added an additional 155 receiving yards and another touchdown through the air as well. In fact, that receiving touchdown came against Georgia in their game last season that the Tide ended up winning by seven points.

Alabama may still choose to ease Miller back into this game since it will be his first of the season. But his presence alone will have a massive impact on this game as he is someone Georgia will have to spend a lot of time game planning for.
