Christen Miller is another Georgia Bulldog player that had trouble seeing mass production due to a loaded Georgia roster.
However, talent once again outshines production as the New Orleans Saints picked Miller with the 42nd overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Christen Miller to the Saints: Hidden Gem?
Miller's projection from scouts in this draft was all over the place. Some had him going as late as the fourth round while others stated he could go in the first. However, this spot just feels right for Miller.
The Saints are needing a lot of things to go right to go back to their winning ways. To start, the defensive line was a crucial need. Cameron Jordan has done all the work on that line for years, and now he's getting some help with Miller and Chase Young. Finally, the Saints might have an intimidating defense other than one or two players.
The questions surrounding Miller was limited production and how long it will take to fully develop Miller. To me, this scenario is very similar to Travon Walker.
Yes, Walker was the number one overall pick and this is day 2, but Walker was a development piece. The Jaguars did not look at production, rather what he could be. Their decision has so far proven to be successful as Walker has already accumulated 27.5 total sacks in his short career. Miller can be a similar story. To make things better, he can start immediately and learn from Jordan and Young.
Also think of other Bulldog Jordan Davis. Davis had all the potential in the world to learn and develop, and now he is the highest paid nose tackle in NFL history. I won't say just yet that Miller could find that same level of success, but he has all the intangibles to do so. Look out for Miller on New Orleans. This could be a decision that changes the outlook of the Saints franchise forever.
Miller is the second Bulldog taken in the 2026 NFL Draft joining offensive lineman Monroe Freeling who was drafted by the Carolina Panthers with the 19th overall pick.
