On July 31 four-star defensive back Seth Williams will announce his commitment. He has been settled on Georgia and Clemson as his two finalists for quite some time, but only one team can come out on top.
For the longest time it looked like Clemson was the team to beat. In fact, they were favored to win by On3 and had the only 247Sports crystal ball prediction in their favor as well. But that changed on Wednesday as Georgia just received their first prediction on 247Sports to win his recruitment.
New prediction favors Georgia over Clemson in 4-star Seth Williams' recruitment
Williams originally planned on committing on July 3. That is when both 247Sports and On3 had Clemson as the favorite to earn his commitment. But Williams shocked everyone just days before his announcement by canceling his commitment.
This was a clear sign that Georgia was making a serious move in his recruitment. Georgia and Clemson were the only two teams that hosted Williams on an official visit, so it was unlikely that any other school was getting involved. So Georgia had to be the reason for this decision, but it was impossible to know for sure.
Williams then fell on July 31 for his new commitment date, but he still couldn't make up his mind. He however has apparently made his final decision, and it looks like Georgia should expect some good news on Friday.
Winning Seth Williams' recruitment would be one of Georgia's biggest wins of the year
Georgia's 2027 recruiting class is ranked jut outside the top 10. A big reason for that is because they only have one defensive back commit right now. That is nowhere near the amount that they and every other school in the country likes to have in a recruiting class, so that needed to change.
Williams looks like he will be the second defensive back to commit to Georgia, and that is a big deal. He is the No. 247 overall player in the country according to 247Sports, so they clearly think he is an elite player. On top of that, he is also from the state of Georgia so he would provide a much needed in-state win for the Bulldogs.
Beating Clemson for a recruit is never a bad thing either. They are one of the best programs in the ACC and one of Georgia's secondary rivals as well, so beating them for a recruit will always be a big deal.
Georgia still has to get this recruitment to the finish line, and in recruiting anything is possible. But for now it looks like they are going to come out on top and earn one of their biggest recruiting wins of the 2027 cycle.
