Five-star quarterback Jared Curtis's recruitment is coming down to the wire. The No. 1 QB in the country has been committed to Georgia since May, but Vanderbilt has been coming on strong and are in position to flip him away from UGA.
Curtis plans to announce his final decision next Friday, so that gives Georgia one more week to convince him that Athens is the right place for him. Vanderbilt however will be making the same pitch over the next week as well, and the latest news coming out of the Commodores program will improve their chances at landing Curtis.

Vanderbilt extending Clark Lea is bad news for Georgia
Typically when a coach does well at Vanderbilt like Clark Lea has they almost immediately move on to a new program that cares more about football. That however is not the case anymore as Vanderbilt announced on Saturday that they have extended Lea's contract for another six years.
This news has a big impact on Curtis's recruitment because had Lea decided he wanted to coach elsewhere Curtis likely would not even think about playing for Vanderbilt anymore. But now that Lea will be at Vanderbilt for Curtis's entire career, Curtis doesn't have to worry about losing his coach if he chooses the Commodores.
In one week Curtis will make his final decision, and at this point it is impossible to know who he is going to pick. Georgia has everything a player like Curtis would want which includes always being a team competing for championships every season. But Vanderbilt has proven they can compete for titles now as well, and they can offer him immediate playing time which is something Georgia can't guarantee.
Will Curtis pick Georgia? Or will he break UGA's heart and flip to Vanderbilt? Only time will tell, but what once felt like a guarantee no longer is the case as there is a real possibility Curtis flips to Vanderbilt.
