Early Sunday morning Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch was arrested in Athens. This caused a lot of people to panic because the NFL Draft is in just a few days and Branch was expected to be taken in one of the first three rounds.

If this arrest was serious then that could put his NFL career in jeopardy before it even began. Thankfully the consensus is that this arrest was an overreaction and probably should've never happened in the first place.

That might be a biased opinion coming from a Georgia fan site, but NFL Draft expert Joe Schad believes this will have "zero impact" on his draft status.

What's next for Zachariah Branch after Sunday arrest in Athens?

So what happens now? Branch was expected to be taken in the second or third round of the NFL Draft that begins later this week, and by all accounts that will not be changing. He however may have some questions to answer leading up to the draft though.

The teams that are interested in picking him likely will reach out to ask about this situation. They will want to know all the details surrounding the arrest so they know if drafting him is a risk or not. Based on the information released to the public he should have nothing to worry about, but NFL organizations will want to do a little homework before drafting him.

At the end of the day Branch shouldn't expect anything to change. He will still be drafted by the same team that was always planning on picking him as this arrest doesn't warrant any decline in his draft stock.

Sure this arrest still doesn't look good, but anyone who takes the time to read what led to this incident will see how ridiculous and unnecessary it truly is.
