In just a few days the next batch of Georgia Bulldogs will see their lifelong dream of making it to the NFL come true. One of those players is wide receiver Zachariah Branch who by all accounts will be one of the first receivers taken in the NFL Draft this year.
Branch unfortunately is in the news for all the wrong reasons Sunday morning after being arrested in Athens.

Branch is expected to be drafted in this week's NFL draft, which begins on Thursday: https://t.co/6NymMbRLJQ
Georgia WR Zachariah Branch arrested days before the NFL Draft
According to the above report, Branch was arrested on Sunday on one misdemeanor count of obstructing public sidewalks/streets - prowling and another misdemeanor charge of obstruction of a law enforcement official. Branch was released on a $39 bond early Sunday morning.
These charges seem minor, so they more than likely will have no impact on his draft status. NFL organizations have never seemed to care about off the field issues before (even in cases much more serious than this) so it’s hard to imagine this arrest negatively impacting where he is drafted later this week.
But it’s impossible to deny how bad of timing this is. To be fair it’s never a good time to be arrested, but just a few days before the NFL Draft might be the worst timing possible.
Zachariah Branch NFL Draft projection
Branch spent one season at Georgia after transferring from USC. He immediately made an impact as he recorded 81 receptions for 811 yards and six touchdowns this season. His 81 receptions set the single season record in Georgia football history.
Branch is expected to be drafted in the second or third round of the NFL Draft this week.
Only time will tell if this arrest impacts his draft stock or not, but NFL organizations will probably be willing to look past this because of the immense talent that he possesses.
