When College GameDay is in Tuscaloosa this weekend for the Georgia vs Alabama game it will not be surprising when Nick Saban shows his bias towards the Tide. Media are supposed to remain unbiased, but after the historic career he had with the Tide it makes sense that he would show who he wants to win because everyone watching already knows he'll be cheering for Alabama over Georgia.

When the GameDay crew makes their final pick for the Georgia vs Alabama game at the end of their show he undoubtedly will choose the Crimson Tide, but something Saban said last week shows that he may actually think Georgia will win this game.

The data agrees with Nick Saban that Georgia is a complete team

Georgia is typically known for having an elite defense and an offense who can put up enough points to win. The Bulldogs still have a strong defense this season, but they have actually been led by their offense.

Through five games this season Georgia has the No. 1 scoring in the offense in the country. That could easily overshadow their defense, but the Bulldogs also have the No. 13 scoring defense in the nation.

Other teams may have better stats in other areas on both sides of the ball than Georgia, but the most important stat in football is scoring. Nothing matters more than how many points you score on offense and how many you give up on defense, and this data agrees with Saban that Georgia is one of the most complete teams in the country.

What's at stake for Kirby Smart against Alabama?

Kirby Smart is the most decorated active head coach in college football. He has won four SEC titles and two national championships during his 10 seasons as head coach, and no coach currently coaching can compare to that.

For all the success he's found though he has not been able to conquer Alabama. Throughout his coaching career he is 2-7 against Alabama which includes going 1-5 against them when Saban was their head coach. This unfortunately means that he is 1-2 against Alabama since Kalen DeBoer became their head coach.

By the time Saban retired most Georgia fans accepted that he would likely always be viewed as a better coach than Smart. No Georgia fan however should be willing to admit that DeBoer is better than Smart. While he doesn't have the same accolades as Smart, as long as he has a winning record against him then DeBoer will have some ground to stand on when he is compared to Smart.

Their head-to-head record is one reason why winning this game is so important for Georgia. A loss means Smart would be 1-3 against DeBoer while a win makes him 2-2, those records are completely different. Winning this game also proves that Smart can beat Alabama on the road which DeBoer already accomplished in Athens last season. This would also be Smart's first career win in Tuscaloosa which would be significant as well.

The most important reason for Georgia to win this game is because it puts them in the drivers seat in the race to repeat as SEC champions, but there's also a lot on the line when it comes to Smart's legacy as well.
