Georgia football is anxiously awaiting their first commitment in over a month, and unfortunately no one knows when that could occur. But until it does, Kirby Smart and his staff will have to continue hitting the recruiting trail hard to put themselves in position with the best players in the country.
One of those players Georgia is in a good spot with is linebacker Izayia Williams, who is the No. 1 linebacker in the country according to On3. Williams has already announced his top five schools, and Georgia was included in that elite group along with Florida, Alabama, Penn State and Florida State.
The assumption was that Georgia would not hear much news about this recruitment until after all of his official visits later this summer. That however is unfortunately not the case as On3's top recruiting insider gave Georgia some terrible news on Thursday.
Izayia Williams predicted to Florida
Things were looking pretty good for Georgia in this recruitment, but that unfortunately came to a crashing end as On3's Steve Wiltfong predicted Williams to commit to Florida on Thursday.
The good news for Georgia is that Williams has been back and forth on his commitment his entire recruitment as he has been committed to Louisville, Syracuse and Florida State at one point. So this shows that there is a great chance that he eventually changes his mind on Florida as well.
But for now, the Bulldogs are behind one of their biggest rivals for the No. 1 linebacker in the country which is not a fun place to be. Georgia will host Williams on May 30 for an ofificial visit, so this could be the time when Georgia could swing things in their favor. But until that visit happens, Georgia will likely be well behind the Gators in this recruitment.
