The No. 1 overall recruit in the 2028 recruiting class is quarterback Jayden Wade. Wade is an elite prospect from the state of Florida who Georgia has been aggressively pursuing over the past year. But as any college football fan would assume, Wade has every big school aggressively targeting him as well.
But at this point in his recruitment none of that matters, because On3 reported on Wednesday that Georgia is an "early favorite" in Wade's recruitment.
Georgia named "early favorite" for 5-star QB Jayden Wade
Wade is only in his sophomore year of high school, but he already has 28 scholarship offers. This includes programs like Auburn, Florida State, Miami (FL), Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon and Texas. But out of all of these programs, it is Georgia who is the early favorite in Wade's recruitment.
There are a few other schools who are trending well in Wade's recruitment as well according to 247Sports. Those schools are Oregon, Texas, Florida and Ohio State who all have the "warm" label on his profile. 247Sports also gives that label to Georgia, but they don't specifically show UGA as his No. 1 school. But On3 however is confident at this point that Georgia is the team to beat for Wade.
This isn't the first time Wade has spoken highly of Georgia as he referred to UGA as "home" last week as well. So putting all of these reports together it is clear that the Bulldogs are his top choice right now.
Wade's recruitment still has over two years to go, but it's impossible to not be extremely excited about where Georgia stands right now. The Bulldogs already have five-star QB Jared Curtis coming to Athens next year, so imagining Wade taking over the offense after Curtis almost feels too good to be true. But there is a very real chance that is what happens which would help keep Georgia at the top of the college footballl world for years to come.
