Kirby Smart already has one of the top 2028 recruiting classes in the country. They may only have two players committed to their recruiting class, but one of those commits is five-star quarterback Jayden Wade who is the No. 1 player in the country.
Georgia will continue to prioritzie the 2027 recruiting class the rest of this year, but they are also laying the ground work for the 2028 class as well. This includes offering some of their top targets and building relationships with them, and the No. 1 player from the state of Georgia Csey Barner detailed just how special it was to get an offer from UGA.

5-star Casey Barner gets emotional talking about being offered by Georgia
Barner is a five-star safety who is the No. 6 overall player in the country, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He also is the No. 1 safety in the 2028 recruiting class and the top ranked player from the state of Georgia.
Dawg Nation reported in the above post that Barner is a huge Georgia fan. They also mentioned that his entire family are massive UGA fans as well. So when Georgia called to offer him a scholarship he nearly cried because this is likely the one offer that he has dreamed of receiving his entire life.
The fact that he and his family are such big Georgia fans is great news for Smart and his staff as this should give them a leg up in his recruitment over any other school that targets him. Georgia will still have to recruit him really well because this doesn't guarantee that he will commit to UGA, but their chances of earning his commitment are very good.
Barner doesn't plan on announcing a commitment anytime soon, but this is a name Georgia fans should learn because he is someone who could be a Bulldog in the future.
