Georgia football has a lot of big weekends coming up on the recruiting trail. Now is the time when teams start hosting their top recruits in the 2026 class, so it’s important for Smart to get his top targets to come to campus.
That is exactly what Kirby Smart and his staff have done as many of their top targets across the country have scheduled upcoming visits to Georgia. But what about the top recruits from Georgia? Those recruits were a huge emphasis for Smart in the 2025 class, and it appears that is holding true again this cycle as the best player from Georgia is coming to Athens this weekend.
5-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson
Tyler Atkinson is a five-star linebacker from Loganville, GA. According to the 247Spoets composite rankings, he is the No. 7 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 1 linebacker in the country and the top ranked player from Georgia.
Atkinson has been one of the top targets for Georgia in this class for quite some time. Smart has visited Arkinson multiple times and has already brought him to campus as well. Atkinson was at Georgia when the Bulldogs beat Tennessee this season, and he clearly must have loved what he saw because he has continued to show a lot of interest in Georgia. And according to Chad Simmons with On3, Arkinson will be making a visit to Georgia this weekend.
As one would likely assume, Arkinson has many elite programs after him. However, 247Sports lists four schools on his profile as the leaders in his recruitment, and that is Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee and Clemson. The Bulldogs might even be the current leader as there is one crystal ball prediction in their favor on 247Sports to win this recruitment.
While that is always nice to see, Arkinson’s recruitment has a long ways to go. So this visit is extremely important so Georgia can continue to cement themselves as one of the leaders in his recruitment.
