Running back Kemon Spell committing to Georgia on Monday was big for multiple reasons. The obvious is that he is an extremely talented player, so much so that 247Sports has him as the No. 7 overall player in the country and the top ranked running back in the class.

But there is a much larger impact that Spells will bring to Georgia than just his own individual play on the field.

Pair of No. 1 recruits are descending upon Georgia

Spells just so happens to not be the only top ranked recruit committed to Georgia. While he is the No. 1 running back in the 2027 class, the Bulldogs also have the No. 1 ranked quarterback committed to them as well. Jayden Wade.

Wade is a member of the 2028 recruiting class who has been committed to Georgia for a few months now. Just like Spells, he is the No. 1 player in the country at his position. But he is ranked even higher than Spells as he is the top ranked player in the entire 2028 class.

So while Spells will arrive in Athens one year before Wade, these two will overlap for a least a few years. This means that Georgia will have a five-star running back and five-star quarterback playing side by side. Now that just isn’t fair for the rest of the country.

It is clear that Georgia’s offense will continue to be very strong with these two at the helm, so the only question that remains is if their defense will keep up. And if anyone knows Kirby Smart, they know that won’t be a problem.

So while Georgia will continue to be a great team in the present, there is a lot to look forward to in the future. Because not only will Spells be in Athens soon, but his future partner in crime Wade will be as well.

Good luck to the rest of the country.
