The sign of a champion, better yet, the mark of a champion. Since coming to Athens out of Savannah by way of the IMG Academy, all Nolan Smith does is win, no matter what. Smith may be entering his fourth NFL season out of Georgia with the Philadelphia Eagles, but he has been part of three championship teams since he first arrived at UGA. Smith just made sure he never forget about them.

Here are pictures of the national championship tattoos Smith got done over Super Bowl weekend.

Smith was part of both of Georgia's College Football Playoff National Championship teams this century. He was on the 2021-22 team that ended the 41-year drought with a nailbiter victory over Alabama up in Indianapolis. Although he was hurt down the stretch, Smith was a huge emotional leader for the 2022-23 team that dogwalked the hapless TCU Horned Frogs over in Los Angeles.

Smith has also played in a pair of Super Bowls with the Eagles, winning it all in the 2024-25 season.

Nolan Smith gets national championship tattoos to honor UGA career

Of the handful of players who starred for Kirby Smart during the back-to-back national championship runs earlier in the decade, Smith stood out for a few reasons. Not only was he such an incredibly productive player for Georgia coming off the edge, but he possessed a certain, galvanizing emotional intelligence that should parlay quite nicely into a coaching career whenever he is done playing ball.

The best example of this is Smith chose to come back to school for his senior season in 2022-23. Yes, he could have improved his draft stock, but he wanted to do more with his guys. While a torn pectoral muscle ended his UGA career a bit prematurely, Smith made it a point to always be there and help coach up his guys. His work along the sidelines then is something Dawg Nation will never forget.

Overall, tattoos are always meant to represent something personal. Of the many things he could put on his body forever, Smith chose to honor two of the best days of his life. As time goes on, players who were on those two teams and played significant roles for them will be remembered so fondly. While guys like Stetson Bennett IV, Brock Bowers, and Ladd McConkey get the love, so should Smith.

The big question now is how many more championships does Smith plan on winning over in the NFL.
