Schedules are not created equal in college football. Even teams within the same conference benefit from easier schedules than others (hello Texas A&M), but there are extreme differences in the difficulty of schedules when comparing the top teams from different conferences.
A big debate has been occurring this season between Big Ten and SEC fans surrounding who plays the most difficult schedules. Ohio State fans especially like to act like their schedule even compares to the gauntlet teams like Georgia are playing this year, but the data shows that their hypothesis is the furthest thing from the truth.

Data shows Ohio State's schedule doesn't even compare to Georgia
The above post shows the strength of schedule for all 12 teams currently inside the 12-team College Football Playoff bracket, and this shows just how easy of a path Ohio State has had compared to Georgia. The Bulldogs have played the 11th most difficult schedule in the country while the Buckeyes are all the down at No. 41. And just imagine how much lower Ohio State would be if they didn't play Texas this season.
This data doesn't mean that Ohio State is a bad team by any means. The Buckeys still deserve to be the No. 1 team in the country and Georgia also deserves to be No. 5 as well. But Ohio State just needs to accept that they have an easier schedule every year.
At the end of the day Ohio State is a program that will always be competing for a National Championship even if they have an easy schedule. So it really doesn't make much sense why they try and act like their schedule even compares to Georgia or anyone else in the SEC. But for some reason they like to act like their schedule is on the SEC's level even though it doesn't really matter all that much.
