Georgia's upcoming matchup with Ole Miss is one of four huge showdowns in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. While every UGA fan will obviously be following Georgia's game the closest, they will also have a close eye on Ohio State's game against Miami.

Not only would UGA play the winner of this game if they beat Ole Miss, but everyone wants to see if Carson Beck can advance to potentially face his former team. Beck likely is hoping that he gets to play his former team as well, but Ohio State defensive back Caleb Downs is also hoping to face Georgia in the semifinals as well.

Ohio State star is hoping they play Georgia in CFP semifinals

Downs has a rich history with Georgia even though he never played in Athens. Out of high school he was one of the top recruits from the state of Georgia, but instead of playing for Kirby Smart he chose to head to Alabama to play for Nick Saban. After Saban retired he entered the Transfer Portal and every Georgia fan hoped he would finally come to UGA, but he instead opted to head north to Ohio State.

That decision so far has worked our for him as he won a National Championship last season and is the 2-seed in the playoff this year. But Georgia might have a chance to beat him in the semifinals if they both win their matchups later this week. That however is exactly what Downs is hoping for because this is now the second time he has said how he wants to play Georgia.

Georgia still needs to get past Ole Miss first before they can worry about their next game. While playing and beating Ohio State after everything Downs said does sound nice, every Georgia fan likely would still rather beat Beck and Miami instead. But after everything he has said about Georgia beating Downs and the Buckeyes would be a nice consolation prize if they beat Miami.
