Georgia football will take on Ole Miss in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals at the Sugar Bowl next week. The Bulldogs have the benefit of already having played Ole Miss this season, so they will be able to draw on the experience from that game as they prepare for this rematch.

The good news for Georgia is that when they look back on the first meeting they will see the formula that worked to perfection against the Rebels. Georgia's offense was dominant en route to their 43-35 victory, but it was the fact that they never had to punt the ball that really stood out.

New Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding remembered this, and he made sure to make it clear that their goal is to make sure Georgia punts the ball at least once during their rematch.

“Hopefully we can at least get them to punt one time this time.”

Ole Miss has unique goal they hope to achieve vs Georgia

This was obviously a joke from Golding, but he knows that his defense needs to play a lot better if they are going to beat Georgia. As mentioned, Ole Miss gave up 43 points in the first meeting between these teams, and that will not be good enough this time around either.

The Ole Miss offense also found a lot of success against Georgia in this game. The Rebels scored a touchdown on their first five possessions of the game, so if their defense played a halfway decent game they would have left Athens with a victory. But that did not happen, in fact their defense played the worst game of their season which led to Georgia's win.

The good news for Georgia is that their offense has continued to play extremely well since this game. But the even better news is that their defense has greatly improved as well. If both sides of the ball continue to play as well as they have been then Ole Miss will not stand a chance.

But at the end of the day Ole Miss will likely accomplish this goal because it's hard to imagine Georgia going an entire game without punting the football again.
