Georgia is one week removed from beating Ole Miss, so one would assume the Rebels are still upset at UGA and will do everything they can to avoid helping them the rest of the season. While that may be the case, Ole Miss indirectly gave Georgia's resume a big boost on Saturday while also helping give UGA a better position in the SEC standings.

Ole Miss gave Georgia a major boost on Saturday

While Georgia was sitting at home on a bye, Ole Miss had to travel to face a one loss Oklahoma team on the road. The Rebels had just lost an emotional game the week prior at Georgia, so having to face another really good team on the road presented a massive challenge for them. But Ole Miss met that challenge and left Oklahoma with an impressive 34-26 win.

This win helped Georgia out in two big ways. The better Ole Miss is thie rest of this season means the better Georgia's resume will look. So in a perfect world Ole Miss will finish the year 11-1 and Georgia will be able to flaunt that they were the only team who could beat them.

The Rebels win also helped Georgia in the SEC standings as well. There were a whopping five teams with one loss in conference play entering Saturday, and Oklahoma was one of those teams. So the Sooners earning their second loss is significant because UGA is no longer tied with them in the standings. Georgia is tied with Ole Miss with one loss, but UGA has the head-to-head tiebreaker so they don't need to worry about them.

Georgia still needs some help from Alabama or Texas A&M who are both still undefeated in conference play, but Ole Miss did their part on Saturday to help propel Georgia to the finish line the rest of this season.
