Ole Miss will be without a major contributor this weekend as star running back Kewan Lacy has officially been ruled for their matchup against Georgia, and this feels like the perfect excuse was just handed to Ole Miss if UGA wins.
At this point in the season everyone is dealing with injuries. Georgia could potentially be without one of their best running backs in Chauncey Bowens for Saturday's game as well, but Ole Miss missing Lacy will be challenging for them to overcome.

Ole Miss RB Kewan Lacy ruled out vs Georgia
Lacy is one of the best running backs in the country. So far this season he has racked up 78 carries, 388 yards and five touchdowns, but he's only played in six games. Lacy dislocated his shoulder during the Rebels loss at Texas two weeks ago, and after missing their game last week he is out this week against Georgia as well.
Ole Miss has depth behind him to help their offense operate at a high level even without him. Shekai Mills-Knight and Makhi Frazier split carries for Ole Miss against Auburn last week which was a game they won 45-15. Knight averaged 4.4 yards per carry while Frazier averaged 3.3, so while they aren't as dominant as Lacy they proved they can play well without him.
Lacy's absence could end up being the perfect excuse for Ole Miss if they lose to Georgia, but in reality they still shouldn't make any excuses because they will still have arguably the best player on the field.
Stopping QB Trinidad Chambliss is even more important for Georgia now
Trinidad Chambliss is one of the best quarterbacks in the country. He has struggled more this season compared to last year, but that may not matter on Saturday when he plays Georgia.
Chambliss went 1-1 against Georgia last season, but he can't be blamed for their regular season loss in Athens. He dominated Georgia's defense and led the Rebels on touchdown drives the first five times they touched the ball, and that still wasn't enough to win. He was even better though in the playoff as he eclipsed 600 passing yards in those two matchups combined.
With Lacy out the Rebels will have to rely on Chambliss even more. They likely will use him even more in the running game as seen last week when he carried the ball seven times for 65 yards and a touchdown.
One of the biggest reasons why Georgia lost to Auburn earlier this season was because of the Tigers' quarterback run game. If Ole Miss was smart they will use Chambliss in the run game a lot just like Auburn did, and that could make him even more dangerous in the pass game.
Ole Miss is still more than capable of beating Georgia without Lacy in the lineup and that's mostly due to how great Chambliss is, so if Georgia ends up winning don't let the Rebels use Lacy's injury as a way to excuse this defeat.
