On3 forgets Georgia exists when listing College Football Playoff locks

On3 is either disrespecting Georgia or completely forgot they exist.

Georgia’s in about as good of a spot as they can be when it comes to the College Football Playoff. Last week the Bulldogs were their No. 5 team in the country, but after a 25 point win over Texas and loss by No. 4 Alabama they should expect to move up in the third edition of the CFP rankings on Thursday.

But as it stands today, Georgia is 9-1 with an easy game against Charlotte this week and very winnable game against Georgia Tech the following week, so the Bulldogs place in the CFP should be set in stone. On3’s J.D. PicKell however does not agree.

On3 isn’t sold on Georgia just yet

PicKell stated in the above post that he believes Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M and Ole Miss are all locks to make the College Football Playoff. There’s no problem with him saying that because it is definitely true about each team, but it’s impossible to not point how PicKell not listing Georgia with that group.

The Bulldogs are coming off their impressive win against Texas that marked their ninth victory of the season. This win adds to an already impressive resume that includes victories over Ole Miss and Tennessee as well, but that somehow isn’t good enough to be considered a lock to make the playoff.

PicKell likely picked these four teams because they are the only Power Four schools with 10 wins already this season. But Georgia’s next opponent is Charlotte and they are favored by 44.5 points, so the Bulldogs will earn their 10th victory this weekend. But PicKell apparently doesn’t think that’s a guarantee because he isn’t willing to name Georgia a lock to make the CFP.

It will be interesting to see what he has to say after Georgia wins this weekend, but for all intents and purposes UGA’s spot in the 12-team playoff field is as set in stone as any team in the country.
