Georgia fans were riding high after four-star quarterback Colton Nussmeier committed to UGA in the beginning of June. Soon after his commitment though Nussmeier was ruled ineligible for his senior season in Texas.
It was determined that Nussmeier transferred schools this offseason solely because of athletics which is against the rules in Texas high schools sports. And after appealing this decision it was confirmed his week that he will remain ineligible.
NEW: Ryan (TX) QB Colton Nussmeier's appeal has been denied by the UIL State Executive Committee, making him ineligible to play there this season.

This leaves Nussmeier with one option if he wants to play football this fall. In order to make that happen he would need to transfer to a new high school in a different state, and Georgia fans will be hoping he realizes this and makes the move to the Peach State.
Why Colton Nussmeier should transfer to a Georgia high school for his senior season
It really is quite obvious why Nussmeier should transfer to a new high school as soon as possible. He already is one of the top quarterbacks in the country, but if he goes a full season without playing he could fall way behind every other quarterback in his class.
He needs as much time to improve and develop before he gets to Georgia next year, so missing out on an entire year of playing high level football is the worst thing for his development.
To take it one step further, transferring to a school in Georgia could be the best decision for his future. High school sports in Georgia don't have the same rules as Texas, so he wouldn't have to worry about being ruled ineligible. On top of that, getting to play close to where he will play in college doesn't seem like a bad thing either.
All of these reasons may make it seem like transferring to a Georgia high school is the obvious choice, and from a fan's perspective this seems like something they would do in a heartbeat, but in the real world it isn't that easy.
Colton Nussmeier transferring to a high school in Georgia isn't as easy as fans might think
Transferring to a new school in a completely different state is a big ask for Nussmeier's family. Would his parents be able to find a job in a new state that easily? How would this impact any younger siblings if Nussmeier has them? What about all the friends and family Nussmeier's family lives close to now? Would they want to just leave all of them behind?
This move may be worth it for one year because Nussmeier's family could always move back to Texas, but that would be a difficult thing for anyone's family to go through.
If Nussmeier's family decides that is too much for them to handle then no one should blame them. It's easy to say that transferring is the easy thing to do when it isn't your life being impacted, but when it comes to Nussmeier and his family they have to do what is best for them.
Georgia fans will hope they will move to the Peach State for his senior season, but with the high school season beginning in less than two months that is more challenging than anyone realizes.
