The first night of the 2026 NFL Draft is in the books, and it’s safe to say that it was a quite night for Georgia.

Typically Georgia fans get to witness a few Bulldogs realize their NFL dreams during the first round of the draft, but Monroe Freeling was the only player selected this year.

Georgia had a few other players who fans believed could’ve been first round picks as well, but CJ Allen was the player that most experts thought was a first round lock. Unfortunately he did not hear his name called and now he has to wait another day before he finds out his NFL fate.

CJ Allen was Georgia’s biggest NFL Draft first round snub

It’s hard to explain why Allen wasn’t selected. He had a phenomenal career at Georgia and performed extremely well in testing ahead of the draft. Georgia also has had countless linebackers take over the league the last few years, so their linebackers should be trusted more than anyone else.

But no one wanted to take a chance on him, and now Allen has to wait another day to find out where his new home will be.

Thankfully Allen won’t have to wait too long as he is viewed as one of the top available players entering the second and third round Friday night. It would be a downright travesty if he wasn’t picked in the second round though, so fans should expect to hear his name called very early.

Georgia should also expect to hear Christen Miller and Zachariah Branch’s names called Friday night as well. A few others could sneak in as well, but there should be at least three more Bulldogs drafted in the next two rounds.

Regardless of what happens Allen will be ready, and he’ll certainly use this first round snub as motivation going forward.
