One Georgia positive emerged from Carson Beck, Miami’s CFP win over Ole Miss

Maybe it wasn’t so bad that Georgia didn’t play Carson Beck.

Georgia fans likely did not have a fun time Thursday night. After getting knocked out of the College Football Playoff last week, Georgia had the luxury of heading home to watch the final SEC team standing (Ole Miss) take on their former quarterback in Carson Beck who transferred to Miami. This was a classic lose-lose scenario as UGA would love for neither team to win a national title this season.

Unfortunately one team had to win and advance, and that was Beck and the Hurricanes who emerged victorious. However, even though it is not fun seeing Beck and Miami advance to the National Championship game, the fact that Georgia didn't get beat by Beck is one positive way to look at Thursday's game.

Georgia can be thankful for one big reason after Miami's CFP win

Obviously Georgia would have preferred to play against Miami Thursday night. They however missed out on that chance after losing to Ole Miss last week in the Sugar Bowl. But imagine how much worse everyone would be feeling if Georgia had beat Ole Miss just to lose to Beck and Miami in the semifinals.

One could argue that there is a chance Georgia would've won, and that is absolutely true. But what if the only two options were losing to Ole Miss in the quarterfinals or losing to Miami in the semifinals? Likely every Georgia fan would choose losing to the Rebels instead of losing to their former quarterback.

Beck and Miami now advance to the National Championship game where they will face the winner of Friday night's semifinal featuring Indiana and Oregon. Georgia really doesn't have anything against either of those teams, so they likely will become the biggest fans of whoever wins.

But even though Georgia's season didn't end as anyone was hoping, the fact that it didn't end at the hands of Beck and Miami is one positive outlook on the season.
