Georgia football's annual showdown with Florida is almost here. This year's game has a little different feel to it though because it seems like the Bulldogs should win fairly easily. Florida is 3-4 this season, they just fired their head coach and Georgia is one of the best teams in the country. So surely Georgia should win with ease, right?
That couldn't be further from the truth, and Georgia has to make sure they don't let these thoughts creep into their heads on Saturday.
One issue that could haunt Georgia vs Florida
Even though Florida enters this matchup with a 3-4 record, they are still a very good team. They have loads of talent on both sides of the ball, including quarterback DJ Lagway who torched UGA last season before getting injured. Florida also enters this game winners of two of their last three games, which includes a victory over Texas which no one thought would happen.
Georgia also enters this game feeling very good about themselves. They just notched a huge win two weeks ago against No. 5 Ole Miss, and the last two weeks all they've heard about is how good they are. This could easily get to their heads and make them not focus as much on Florida as they need to.
Knowing how great of a coach Kirby Smart is, he undoubtedly will do everything he can to not let his team overlook Florida. The Bulldogs can't afford to lose another game if they want to win the SEC, and a loss to this Florida team would really hurt their chances at making the College Football Playoff. So these reasons make it very clear why Georgia needs to focus on the task at hand and give Florida their complete attention.
The Bulldogs are favored to beat Florida by 7.5 points, but if Georgia allows themselves to overlook the Gators it could be a long afternoon on Saturday.
