Georgia's recent matchup with Ole Miss was a slugfest in the first half, mainly because of each team's hot offense. One player in particular however stood out more than most as he hauled in three touchdowns for Georgia. That player was Lawson Luckie.
The junior tight end is a hybrid receiver and tight end that is a matchup nightmare for defenses. Luckie should see those opportunities increase after that huge performance.
After the bye, Georgia fans could see Mike Bobo target the tight end group more based on the production from the Ole Miss win. The Florida front has multiple top defensive linemen, so utilizing the middle of the field may be a productive scheme in this matchup that they can take advantage of.
Freshman TE who could see production
A notable rep and target went to freshman tight end Elyiss Williams in a big moment during the Ole Miss game. The target led to an incompletion, but it could be a sign of more to come alongside Oscar Delp and Luckie.
The 6'6 tight end is a matchup nightmare for any defenders not in the NBA. Willams could possibly have more of a role in the Florida game this weekend and beyond. Certain elite recruits increase their roles near the end of their freshman seasons as they become more accustomed to the college game, and that is exactly what could happen with Williams.
Bobo can use the tight end room's elite athleticism and talent to expose defenses. Getting Luckie and Delp in space can be beneficial for the offense as it gives quarterback Gunner Stockton many opportunities for some easy throws.
Williams however could be a jump ball winner in goal line situations that Georgia has been missing this season. Now that UGA has had the bye week to prepare and get the tight end group ready for the rest of the season, everyone should expect to see a lot more production out of them going forward.
