Of all the visitors on campus this weekend, Kemon Spell is the one fans might be most excited about. A lot of it has to do with him being a five-star and the No. 1 running back in the 2027 recruiting class, but his recruitment has been about as wild as they come.
While it is still unclear when Spell plans to announce his commitment, Georgia insider Jeff Sentell shared that UGA and Penn State are the two schools clearly at the top of his recruitment right now.

Got a Spelling contest brewing here between UGA and his home state Penn State Nittany Lions. https://t.co/2wmX8vIGLS
Georgia may have one final move to make to win Kemon Spell's recruitment
Spell had been committed to Penn State for about a year before he decided to reopen his recruitment last year. That decision came a couple days after the Nittany Lions fired their head coach, and it was at that point that Georgia was thought to be the new leader.
Spell however is from Pennsylvania, so Penn State was always going to be a major player in his recruitment. And it just so happens that they are one of his top two schools along with Georgia.
Georgia however has far more history than Penn State. They are the much better program, have the better coach and have a track record of sending running backs to the NFL. Georgia has everything Spell could be looking for, but they might be behind Penn State when it comes to their NIL offer.
Kirby Smart has said multiple times that he will not overspend for recruits out of high school, even for someone as talented as Spell. So if Penn State decides to make him a big offer then there might not be anything that Georgia can do.
At this point it is impossible to know what will happen. Entering this weekend Penn State was the team to beat, but it seems like Georgia may have caught up to the Nittany Lions. So the last thing Georgia might need to do to win his recruitment is making him a substantial NIL offer, but who knows if Smart will actually do that.
