One scrimmage drastically changed Kirby Smart's take on Georgia's WR room

All it took was one scrimmage for Kirby Smart to completely change how he feels about his wide receivers.

A few weeks ago Kirby Smart discussed how concerned he was with Georgia's wide receiver room. No one can deny the immense talent that this group has, but their lack of experience is the thing that is making Smart a little nervous.

His nervousness however is quickly fading based on how he talked about the wide receivers performance during their first scrimmage of spring.

"Excited about all the wideouts," Smart said via 247sports.com. "They've done a good job. We want to be more explosive. We had some explosive plays in the pass game."

Kirby Smart was impressed with Georgia's WRs during their first scrimmage

Smart made it very clear that Georgia's wideouts had a very strong scrimmage last weekend. He didn't go into any specifics about who played well, but the fact that each receiver impressed him is a very good sign.

The one player that Georgia fans should be watching the closest is Talyn Taylor. He is a former five-star who is back for his second season who should be the Bulldogs' top pass catcher this year. It's one thing to have those expectations though and it's another to actually live up to them, and thankfully he has exceeded them so far.

Having a veteran like Gunner Stockton back for another year should really help Georgia's receivers. He will be one of the top quarterbacks in the country who is capable of raising the level of play from each receiver on Georgia's team. But he can't do it alone. He needs a few receivers to break through like Taylor has, but according to Smart it sounds like they are trending in the right direction.

If the receivers do pan out this year then Georgia's offense has a chance to be special. They already have one of the best running back duos in the country to pair with Stockton, so a dominant receiving core would take Mike Bobo's offense to a level fans haven't seen in a long time.
