Georgia football is in the thick of the race to win the SEC after defeating Ole Miss over the weekend. After this past weekend though the contenders and pretenders in the league are beginning to separate themselves, and Georiga has more than proven they are a legit contender.

But one team who was thought to be a contender at the start of the season has officially shown that no one at the top needs to worry about them anymore.

LSU Is no longer a team Georgia needs to worry about

The LSU Tigers were one of the favorites in the SEC at the start of the season. Head coach Brian Kelly looked to have the best team on paper that he's had since taking over as head coach, and the expectation was for him to compete for and win the SEC. But after their 31-24 loss on Saturday to Vanderbilt, they officially are out of the running to win the conference.

In theory they could still run the table and make the SEC Championship game, but sitting at 2-2 in conference play and struggling as much as they have makes it seem unlikely that they will win their final four SEC games. The Tigers next two games are against Texas A&M and Alabama which are the two remaining undefeated teams in the SEC. LSU stands almost no chance at winning one of these games let alone both of them, and all it takes is one more loss for the Tigers to be completely eliminated from contending for an SEC title.

Georgia does still have a few other teams who they are competing with for an SEC title. Alabama and Texas A&M lead the way as the two undefeated teams left in SEC play, but teams like Ole Miss, Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt all still have one loss.

But LSU, who was though to be a major competitor for Georgia, no longer appears to be a threat anymore.
