Georgia football fans are not the biggest fans of Paul Finebaum. Just a few weeks ago, Finebaum made his National Championship prediction, and UGA fans took great offense to what he had to say.

But sometimes Finebaum does make a statement that UGA fans not only agree with, but are very excited to read. And that is exactly what Finebaum did last week when he compared Kirby Smart and Georgia to the height of the Alabama program under Nick Saban.

”They were what Alabama was about five or six years ago… Kirby Smart in his late 40s is Nick Saban in the absolute prime of his career.”

Paul Finebaum makes nicest claim possible about Kirby Smart, Georgia

Georgia fans may be hesitant to admit this, but there has been no greater dynasty in the history of college football than Alabama during the best years under Saban. During his 17 years as head coach, Saban won a whopping six National Championships and nine SEC Championships which is a feat that may never be accomplished again.

But according to the above statement from Finebaum, Smart and Georgia are just as good as Alabama was during Saban's tenure.

After 9 season of Georgia football under Smart, the Bulldogs have already won three SEC Championships and two national titles. Sure this doesn't come close to the success the Tide found under Saban, but Georgia is well on their way to matching that success.

Who knows if UGA will win six national titles and nine conference titles under Smart, but nobody would be dumb enough to bet against that from happening. Regardless, Georgia is the program that is next in line to dominate the college football world just like Alabama did with Saban, and some people like Finebaum believe Georgia is already there.
