On Friday Georgia lost yet another recruitment. This time it was from in-state safety Ta'Shawn Poole, who is a top 100 recruit in the country, who chose Florida State over the Bulldogs.
This was a big loss for the program, but Georgia had a chance to earn the commitment from fellow Peach State safety Adryan Cole on Saturday. The Bulldogs were predicted to win, but that doesn't always guarantee a victory. Thankfully in this case it did as Cole just committed to Georgia over LSU, Florida and Ole Miss.
🚨Breaking: Georgia lands the commitment of 4⭐️ safety Adryan Cole. The Bulldogs have been pursuing the Douglas County star since his freshman season or high school and he joins Georgia’s 2027 class. #GoDawgs

Adryan Cole was the commitment Georgia needed most
Georgia desperately needed a defensive back commit. After losing two top 100 defensive backs earlier this offseason the Bulldogs were still sitting with zero defensive backs in their 2027 recruiting class in mid-July.
This was approaching a disastrous level, but Cole's commitment came at the perfect time to save the day.
Cole is the No. 166 overall player in the country as well as the No. 15 player from the Peach State. Sure he isn't ranked as high as Poole, but he is plenty good enough for Georgia.
Now Kirby Smart can hopefully build off this momentum because he still has a lot of work to do to get Georgia's recruiting class to a more respectable level.
Kirby Smart's first step to saving Georgia's recruiting class was a big one
Cole's commitment moved Georgia's recruiting class up to No. 12 in the country. That is the highest they've been in months, but it still isn't going to satisfy anyone in Athens. Cole's commitment however is the first step in the right direction.
The Bulldogs recruiting class overall is really solid. They have elite commits at many positions like four-star quarterback Colton Nussmeier and running back Kemon Spell who is the top ranked back in the country. They also have one of the best collections of offensive line commits that Smart has potentially ever recruited during his tenure as head coach.
The one thing that's been missing are defensive back commits, and the addition of Cole made that a lot better. Georgia however needs more than just one defensive back in their recruiting class, but if they can add a few more players like Cole then they will be back inside the top 10 of the recruiting rankings in no time.
In fact, it isn't too late for them to move inside the top five either. That's going to be challenging to accomplish, but Smart is the last person that anyone should doubt.
