Announcers for Auburn vs. Georgia on ABC in Week 6
By Josh Yourish
The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry is back with the Auburn Tigers and No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs both coming off Week 5 SEC losses. Hugh Freeze’s Tigers fell to 2-3 with a 27-21 loss to Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon, and then later that night in Tuscaloosa, Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs dropped their first regular season game since November 7, 2020, with a dramatic 41-34 loss to Alabama.
Smart has had his struggles against the Crimson Tide and is now 1-6, but he’s dominated the other SEC team in the state. Since Smart took over in 2016, Georgia is 8-1 against Auburn, including the 2017 SEC Championship game. Last year, the Tigers hung around with the Bulldogs on The Plains before Carson Beck and Brock Bowers, who caught eight passes for 157 yards and a touchdown, finally put them away 27-20.
Last week, Beck turned the ball over four times, which is out of character for Georgia's fifth-year quarterback, but Freeze is familiar with that type of performance because he's gotten it out of both of his team's quarterbacks this year. Freeze has gone back and forth between Payton Thorne and Hank Brown, who have both struggled with interceptions in 2024.
While it isn’t a primetime game and didn’t demand a visit from the ESPN College Gameday crew as last week’s contest did, Georgia and Auburn will still be featured on ABC with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.
It’s homecoming weekend in Athens, but the Georgia fans who watch from home will hear a familiar broadcasting crew.
Who are the announcers for Auburn vs. Georgia?
Play-by-play announcer Sean McDonough will lead the ABC/ESPN crew in Athens on Saturday with former Alabama quarterback Greg McIlroy joining him in the booth for color commentary and Molly McGrath reporting from the sidelines.
