Georgia is getting ready for their College Football Playoff run beginning with their rematch against Ole Miss at the Sugar Bowl. While their attention should be on making a run at a National Championship, it is impossible to ignore what is looming.

Later this week the Transfer Portal will open. Georgia is expected to lose a lot of talent this offseason so they must be active even while they prepare for a potential semifinal matchup in the playoff.

So here are three players Georgia and Kirby Smart should make a strong push for that could easily end up in Athens.

1. QB Duece Knight - Auburn

After losing five-star quarterback Jared Curtis to Vanderbilt at the beginning of December it became clear that Georgia must add a QB out of the Transfer Portal this offseason. It may be difficult for them to find someone to add considering Gunner Stockton could return next season and backup Ryan Puglisi just announced he will be back in Athens, but Georgia will still need to add one QB.

The top quarterbacks looking to play right away may not be interested in Georgia, but that doesn't mean they can't still target them. And since Georgia lost a five-star from their 2026 recruiting class it makes sense to add a former five-star in Duece Knight.

Knight was a five-star QB in the 2025 recruiting class who spent the last season at Auburn. He however has already annonced his intentions to enter the portal, and Georgia should be very interested. If Stockton heads to the NFL then they will be a very attractive landing spot, but even if he returns Georgia could still sell QBs on the opportunity to win the starting job in 2027.

And there really isn't a better QB to add than Knight who is an elite talent and would be fun to steal from a rival.

2. WR Cam Coleman - Auburn

Why not go after as many transfers as possible from Auburn? Georgia will need some serious help at wide receiver because of the amount of talent they are expected to lose this offseason, and Cam Coleman just so happens to be the No. 1 receiver in the portal.

In two season at Auburn he has recorded 93 receptions, 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns. That is a level of production that any team could use, especially Georgia who will have some big shoes to fill next season.

3. DL Ezra Christensen - New Mexico State

One thing that was missing for much of this season was a relentless pass rush. Georgia's defensive front has improved on that as the season has gone on, but they need to add some more fire power heading into next season.

Georgia doesn't need any long term help since they always have very talented recruits coming in, so a one year rental would be perfect. And Ezra Christensen from New Mexico State would be the perfect addition.

He just wrapped up a season where he finished in the top 15 in run stop rate (per PFF) and top 10 in pass rush win rate in the country as well. Georgia needs that level of pass rush and run stopping ability next season and Christensen could immediately provide that for them.
