Georgia football still has five games remaining on their regular season schedule, with the potential for a sixth if they make it to the SEC Championship game. The last thing any of us should be doing is looking beyond that to the College Football Playoffs because there is still a lot of work to do for Georgia to even make the 12-team field.

But it is the bye week, and we are just fans, so it’s hard to not look to the future and think about what could happen this season.

So why not try to predict what Georgia’s run in the CFP could look like later this season?

Recently we shared what our projected12-team field would look like if the season ended today, so we’re going to use the below chart as our playoff bracket and see what potential matchups Georgia could see in the College Football Playoffs.

First Round Bye

The four highest ranked conference champions automatically get a top four seed and a first round bye in the CFP. And that’s where we currently have Georgia as the SEC Champion.

More specifically we have Georgia as the No. 2 overall seed today, coming in just behind Big Ten Champion Oregon at No. 1.

This means that Georgia will face the winner of the first round matchup between 7-seed Penn State and 10-seed BYU.
